AI Document Scanner Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AI Document Scanner (the "App"), package name com.gpappdev.aidocscanner, handles information. The App does not require an account, does not contain advertising, does not request an advertising ID, and does not use a developer-operated document-processing server.
1. Information stored on your device
The App stores camera originals, selected photo copies, scan drafts, crop coordinates, processed page images, thumbnails, recognized text, document metadata, generated PDF files, and App settings in app-private storage on your Android device. These files support capture, editing, PDF generation, local search, viewing, sharing, draft recovery, and deletion.
2. Camera and selected photos
Camera permission is requested only when you choose to scan a document. Camera images are processed for the scan workflow and are not sent anywhere unless you enable AI processing for that page. Existing images are imported through Android Photo Picker, which gives the App access only to the items you select. The App does not request broad storage or media-library permissions.
3. Optional third-party AI processing
AI processing is optional and can be disabled in Settings. When enabled, the App creates a resized JPEG copy of the selected document page, strips image metadata, and sends the page copy directly from your device over HTTPS to the AI API endpoint configured in AI Connection settings. The request is used for page-boundary understanding, document classification, scan-quality analysis, OCR, and file-name suggestions. The page may contain personal, confidential, financial, educational, health-related, or other sensitive information, depending on what you scan.
The App developer does not receive or proxy these AI requests. The configured AI provider processes the transmitted page and request data under that provider's own terms, privacy policy, security controls, and retention practices. Review the provider's policies before connecting it.
The App requests non-storage behavior where supported by the API contract, but it cannot independently guarantee the provider's retention or use. Temporary upload copies stored by the App are deleted after the request succeeds, fails, or is cancelled. Your original page and generated PDF remain local unless you choose to share them.
4. API credentials and endpoint settings
Your API key is encrypted using Android Keystore and stored only on the device. It is not included in release builds, App logs, Android backups, store screenshots, or developer servers. The configured HTTPS base address is stored locally. You can replace or remove the key at any time in AI Connection settings.
5. Sharing
The App shares a generated PDF only after you choose the Share command and select a destination through Android's share interface. The selected receiving app or service handles the shared PDF under its own privacy practices. The App does not automatically publish or synchronize your documents.
6. Data retention and deletion
- Saved scans, text, thumbnails, and PDFs remain in app-private storage until you delete the document or uninstall the App.
- Deleting a saved document removes its local PDF, thumbnail, and database record.
- Discarding a draft removes its draft records and App-managed temporary files that are no longer needed.
- The Clear temporary files control removes unused processing files while preserving saved PDFs and active drafts.
- Removing the API key deletes the encrypted credential values from App preferences.
7. Permissions
- Camera: captures document pages when you start a scan.
- Internet: connects only to the user-configured AI provider for optional AI analysis and connection testing.
The App uses Android Photo Picker and FileProvider rather than broad storage permissions. It does not request notification permission, location, contacts, microphone, phone state, or advertising ID.
8. Analytics, ads, accounts, and sales
The App contains no third-party advertising SDK, analytics SDK, account service, or developer-operated cloud sync. The developer does not sell or rent personal information. Data sent to a provider you configure is governed by your relationship with that provider and is not sold by the App developer.
9. Security
The App uses Android app-private storage, Android Keystore for the API key, HTTPS-only AI endpoint validation, metadata removal for temporary page copies, and explicit user controls. No security method is guaranteed to prevent every risk. Protect your device, choose a trusted AI provider, avoid scanning information you are not authorized to process, and review important OCR output before relying on it.
10. Children's privacy
The App is a general document utility and is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account or developer server. A parent or guardian should supervise any use involving a third-party AI provider.
11. International processing
The AI provider you configure may process page copies in countries different from your own. Its privacy terms describe applicable locations and safeguards. Local files remain on your device unless you initiate AI processing or share a PDF.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when App behavior, legal requirements, or supported services change. The effective date above will be revised. Material changes should also be reflected in the in-App privacy information and Google Play Data safety disclosures.
